Tip #2: Adding Borders
How to add borders to a patchwork quilt.
The 2 basic things to remember when adding borders to a quilt are
1. Measure across the middle of the quilt - not the edges as the edges can stretch slightly.
2. Pin the border to the quilt matching ends and mid points. Ease the border/quilt to fit if needed.
Add the side borders
Measure across the centre not the edges. Cut the border strips to this size. Add borders to the 2 sides - pinning the ends and mid points. Ease as needed.
Add the top and bottom borders
Measure across the centre in the opposite direction, this measurement will include the borders you have just added. Cut the border strips to this size. Add borders to the remaining 2 sides (the top and bottom of the quilt). Pin the ends and centre. Ease as needed.
