A nifty fun way to make stars. Nifty in that you don't have too many points to worry about matching - make it and see for yourself! A great way to focus some fussy cutting, or you could use an alphabet panel for the centre of the stars.

The centre of each star is cut 5” square - you could use a charm pack, a panel such as an alphabet panel, or fussy cut the fabric.
The points of each star are 8 squares cut at 3¼”.
If you are making each star with different coloured points you will need one 3¼” strip for each star.(FYI - 2 strips gives enough squares for 3 stars)

Preparing the centre of the stars.
Cut squares at 5” - refer to the above table above for quantities.
Fussy cut if you wish.

Preparing the points of the stars.
Cut squares at 3¼” - refer to the table above for quantities.
Draw a diagonal line on the back of each of these squares.
Take care with a striped fabric - half the lines will go one way and half the opposite way.

Cut out the background fabric
Follow the table above and cut out as many 7” squares and 7”x5” pieces as you need from the background fabric.

Making Piece 1
Take a 5” x 7” piece of background fabric. Place a 3¼” square at one end as shown below. Sew on the marked line, fold on the line and press. Trim the excess at the back.
Do the same on the opposite side. The square pieces will overlap.
Make some of piece 1 in colour A and some in colour B - refer to the table below.

Making Piece 2
Take a 5” x 7” piece of background fabric.Follow step 3.
Then add the other colour squares to other end of the rectangle.

The quilt layout
You now have all the pieces you need to assemble the quilt.
Follow the diagrams and build the quilt up row by row. -
Quilt and add binding using your preferred methods.
I usually cut the binding strips 2½”.
